Elementary Prep Time Specialist-PE

Preparation Time Specialist

Location: Boulton Elementary Reference #: 2026-738C Close Date: Open until filled

Summary

Under the general supervision of the Principal or other supervisor, the Preparation Time Specialist teaches classes and/or supervises students during the teacher preparation period. Prepares lesson plans and required classroom materials and provides instruction in specialized subject areas (e.g., music, art, science, computer operations, media center usage, physical education, languages, health).

This classified position is open to all qualified applicants and will remain open until filled.

Position Detail: 3.15 hours per day • 174 days per year Base Salary: $19.98/hour (2026-27 Support Salary Table) Note: Promotions result in a minimum 5% increase in pay All hours listed are approximate.

General Function: Under general supervision, the Preparation Time Specialist teaches classes and/or supervises students during preparation periods while also preparing lesson plans, resources, and specialized instruction (e.g., music, art, PE, languages, technology, media literacy).


Educational Requirements

  1. High school diploma or equivalent education/experience.
  2. Formal education/training in the specialized area is preferred.
  3. Must meet at least ONE of the following by a later assessed date:
    • Two years (48 credit hours) of full-time postsecondary education; OR
    • An Associate’s Degree; OR
    • Passing the Utah State Office of Education approved Para-Professional Test.

  • Knowledge & Abilities:

    • Strong comprehension of assigned subject matter.
    • Exceptional interpersonal skills for collaboration with students, teachers, and staff.
    • Ability to effectively teach and engage with assigned classes.
  • Experience:

    • No minimum experience required.
    • Preferred: Prior experience working with children.
