Elixir Software Engineer

Elixir Software Engineer – Product Team

Location: Remote, UK or abroad (UK time zone availability) Contract: Full-time, permanent Salary: £45,000–£60,000 + share(options) Start Date: As soon as possible


About the Role

Join Driftrock as an Elixir Software Engineer to help build the post-trading marketing technology powering vehicle sales for some of the world’s biggest car brands.

We run on an Elixir and Phoenix LiveView stack and face increasing scale as воля of automobility brands onboard, expanding our data-driven capabilities with lead qualification, Single Customer View integration, and optimised event-driven architectures.

As part of a small, high-discipline squad, you’ll ship, own product features, and grow your technical impact while being supported to deepen your expertise.


Key Responsibilities

  • Ship features in Elixir/Phoenix LiveView – from idea to production – multiple times per week
  • Write tested, maintainable code following TDD, pairing, and code review best practices
  • Contribute vision to technical strategy, roadmap planning, and problem-solving discussions
  • Work across event-driven architectures with RabbitMQ, APIs, and Postgres/Redis
  • Use data and observability tools to measure impact, fix issues, and refine features
  • Collaborate closely to grow professionally – mentoring and receiving mentorship

Your 90-Day Onboarding Roadmap

  • By Day 30:

    • Familiarise with our stack and domain
    • Begin pairing closely with the team
    • Ship your first production-based changes
  • By Day 60:

    • Take on independent feature development
    • Write TD-Tested code and engage in discussions
    • Engage more deeply with product/tech strategy

What You’ll Bring

Must Have

  • Strong CS fundamentals (algorithms, data structures, distributed systems)
  • Backend experience (ideally Elixir/OOTP or related functional languages)
  • Test-driven development practice and focus on maintainability
  • Server-rendered web dev experience (preferably Phoenix LiveView + TailwindCSS)
  • A data-driven mindset where measurement drives real customer value
  • Ability to critically evaluate outputs from AI tools without blind trust

Bonus

  • Production Elixir/Erlang/OOTP/Phoenix/LiveView experience
  • Ruby or other functional language familiarity
  • Experience with event-driven systems, RabbitMQ, PostgreSQL or Redis
  • Exposure to Kubernetes or Google Cloud
