Embedded Software Engineer

Senior Embedded Linux Engineer – Oxford

This fast-growing deep-tech company specialising in AI hardware is developing next-generation AI accelerator technology, combining advanced hardware with high-performance software to redefine compute efficiency.

The team is now seeking an Senior Embedded Linux Engineer to support the development of low-level software that enables their cutting-edge hardware platforms. You’ll work closely with hardware and systems teams, contributing across:

  • Linux device drivers
  • Board Support Package (BSP) bring-up
  • Firmware development
  • RTOS-based control software

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop reliable, efficient Embedded Linux software in C/C++ for custom hardware platforms
  • Design, write, debug, and maintain Linux device drivers
  • Perform BSP bring-up, hardware initialisation, and system integration
  • Collaborate with firmware teams on bootloaders and low-level hardware interaction
  • Interface with RTOS environments where required
  • Assist in transitioning products from prototype to production

Requirements

  • 5+ years’ experience in Embedded Linux and C/C++ development
  • Strong knowledge of Linux kernel internals, device drivers and subsystem integration
  • Hands-on experience with BSP development and board bring-up activities
  • Deep understanding of bootloaders, low-level hardware initialisation, and system provisioning
  • Familiarity with RTOS environments (e.g., FreeRTOS, Zephyr, VxWorks)
  • Desirable: Exposure to PCIe, DMA engines, or high-performance AI hardware platforms
