As we continue to grow, we're looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to join our engineering team at our headquarters in Sedgefield. This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge embedded software that powers some of the world's most advanced RF and communications systems.
You'll be part of a multidisciplinary engineering team developing innovative products from concept through to production, working alongside experts in RF, FPGA, hardware and systems engineering.
What You'll Be Doing
As an Embedded Software Engineer, you'll design, develop and debug embedded software for real-world RF applications, working on both bare-metal and RTOS-based systems.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing embedded software in C/C++ for ARM-based microcontrollers.
- Designing software for bare-metal and real-time operating systems, including FreeRTOS and Zephyr.
- Bringing up new hardware and debugging prototype boards using oscilloscopes, logic analysers and software debugging tools.
- Developing robust communications between embedded devices using interfaces such as Ethernet, CAN, SPI, I²C, UART and RS422.
- Designing networking functionality including TCP/IP, REST APIs, SNMP and OpenAPI interfaces.
- Working closely with hardware, FPGA and systems engineers to integrate software with complex electronic systems.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
