Embedded Firmware Engineer

Bishop Auckland, County Durham
£55,000 per annum

KO2's client is an established and growing technology company that designs, develops and manufactures its own range of advanced handheld electronic products, used by professional customers in demanding environments worldwide. Following continued growth, they are looking for an Embedded Firmware Engineer to join their multi-disciplinary engineering team.

This is a genuine product development role. You will work on portable, battery-powered devices from requirements through to release, with real ownership of the firmware you write.

The Role

  • Developing and enhancing firmware for a range of handheld products
  • Requirements gathering and translating them into robust firmware designs
  • Firmware design, development and testing
  • Software configuration management
  • Collaborating closely with hardware engineers to support electronics design and development
  • Working as part of a multi-discipline team including hardware, mechanical and software engineers

What you'll need

  • Strong embedded C firmware development on Arm Cortex M4, both bare metal and RTOS
  • Experience with communication technologies including Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and USB
  • Experience developing with peripherals including I2C, SPI, UART, GPIO and ADC
  • Good problem-solving skills, comfortable working on your own initiative and as part of a team
  • The ability to pick up new technologies quickly
