Role: Embedded Software Engineer or Physics and Mathematical Engineer
Location: Swindon
Salary: £35,000 junior or £55,000 senior approx
Experience: Junior or senior
My client is looking to hire an Embedded Engineer or Software Engineer with good Physics and mathematical skills.
Must have C++ and Python skills with a clear aptitude to learn the optical, image processing, and mechanics of a surface scanning device.
In an ideal world, we would find an embedded optical/optronics engineer that has been actively involved in the development of various imaging technologies (might include focus variation, interferometry, structured light, etc).

The person would have a strong knowledge of embedded systems, including the firmware and application development.
Tech stack: C++, Python, MATLAB and a bonus is Optics, Zemax, and MATLAB but can be taught.
Must haves:
- Embedded experience, or at least aptitude to learn
- Strong C++ a must, Python would be nice to have
- Optical/Physics background or experience on optical systems
- MATLAB or at least a strong mathematical aptitude and ability to learn
Desired Skills:
- Optical Engineering, Physics, or Electronics Degree actively involved in the development of various imaging technologies (might include focus variation, interferometry, structured light, etc).
- Image Processing Experience/Skills
- Electronic Engineering Skills – high speed cct design, PCB Layout
- A Physicist with strong software skills would fill that sort of mould.
- STM32 experience
- Zemax experience
- Electronics Design / PCB design
