Senior Business Manager – Quant / Systematic Trading Strategies (EMEA)
A major multi-strategy proprietary trading firm expanding its European operations.
The firm is seeking an experienced business manager to lead its EMEA quant and systematic trading strategies, bridging the gap between trading, technology, quant, risk, and middle office teams. Based in the European office, the successful candidate will play a critical role in shaping and scaling the firm's proprietary trading initiatives.
About the Role
The ideal candidate will join a small, agile business management team with direct ownership over strategy execution, covering:

Strategy & Product Development
- Launching new desks/products
- Expanding into new geographies/jurisdictions
- Strategic partnership growth

Scaling Operations
- Onboarding investment professionals
- Designing & optimising front, middle & back-office infrastructure
- Leading broader business strategy discussions with Managing Partners

Cross-functional Leadership
- Driving initiatives between trading, quant, risk, and technology teams
- Ensuring seamless collaboration and aligning goals
- Managing communications and reporting across disciplines

External Relationships
- Overseeing working relationships with suppliers, brokers, and third-party service providers

Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
- Guide strategic shifts in systematic trading approaches, influencing hiring, infrastructure, and geographic expansion.
- Bridge the gap between technical (quant/tech) and commercial (business/operations) teams, ensuring alignment.
- Lead and manage multi-disciplinary projects tied to strategy development.
- Manage and grow critical external partnerships (brokers, vendors, co-location providers).
- Support mentorship of mid-senior business/operational talent.
- Work closely with Managing Partners to reframe/adapt the firm’s systematic trading strategy within a rapidly evolving market landscape.
Requirements & Qualifications
Ideal Profile
- 7–15 years of relevant experience in:
- Investment banking, proprietary trading, or hedge funds (business management, COO, strategy, or operational leadership).
- Exceptional cases: High-calibre consulting backgrounds (e.g., McKinsey, BCG, Oliver Wyman) with demonstrate market experience and financial expertise.
- Strong appreciation for quantitative trading, though expertise in this area is supplemental (not a guarantee for entry into the role).
- Ability to navigate diverse and complex stakeholders and break down silos.
- Proven ability to manage up (with Managing Partners and Leadership) as well as down (with junior team members).

Qualifications
The firm places heavy emphasis on educational pedigree and professional credentials. Preference given to:
- Top-tier academic institution(s), including praise for seek AAA or equivalent quant Αβ/Π (frequently follows candidates with GPA 3.8+ or equivalent quant Αβ/Π works).
- Industry recognitions like CFA or CQF are a clear differentiator.
- Advanced technical skills are valuable but not mandatory; both degrees and its Acropolis formant αβ/π.

- Base Salary: Across the top end of market for the region.
- Performance Bonus: Potential 50–100% of base salary (calibrated to performance expectations).
