Associate – Finance Control Management (EMEA CIB Finance)
About the Role
This role offers exposure to a stimulating and rewarding environment, where a wide range of activities require engagement with cross-disciplinary teams to build innovative solutions.
As an Associate within our Finance Control Management team, you will:
- Be part of the first line of defense, preventing, detecting, and monitoring operational, regulatory, and reputational risks.
- Support the execution of the control agenda across Corporate and Investment Bank (CIB) Finance and Business Management.
- Develop a strong understanding of the business, its processes, compliance, operational risk, and control environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Risk Monitoring & Reporting
- Produce and monitor Operational Risk metrics, including Risk Events, Action Plans, Issue Management, and FITTs.
- Stakeholder & Project Engagement
- Represent EMEA CIB Finance on Corporate and cross-CIB project working groups.
- Govern deliverables for initiatives like CORE (Control Ownership & Remediation Enterprise) and ensure quality execution.
- Risk & Control Assessments
- Prepare qualitative risk assessments and collaborate on deep dives into high-risk control areas.
- Support the business in ensuring remediations initiatives and CORE issue closures align with high standards.
- Governance & Reporting
- Assist in preparing monthly and quarterly governance materials, including submissions for Control Forums and Audit Committees.
- Collaboration with Internal Functions
- Work closely with CCOR (Chief Compliance Officer & Risk committees) and Internal Audit on testing and audits.
- Lead or support discussions with legal entity controllers, audit teams, compliance, and risk, ranging from ad-hoc meetings to Control Committee presentations.
- Regulatory & Legal Compliance Support
- Work with the business on assessing legal obligations for the Finance function (OLO & REN).

Required Qualifications, Capabilities & Skills
- Relevant Experience
- Strong background in Finance, Audit, Internal Control, or Operational Risk.
- Soft Skills
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Analytical problem-solving approach with a structured methodology.
- Exceptional multitasking and prioritisation skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-Driven & Adaptable
- Willing to work independently with strong initiative, ownership, and accountability.
- Able to recognise when to seek guidance from peers or supervisors.
- Communication & Presentation Skills
- Excellent written, oral, and presentation abilities.
- Technical Proficiency
- Fluent in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
