EMEA Payroll Specialist
Payroll Service Delivery Consultant (GHR)
Corporate Title: Up to Vice President Location: Chester
About the Role
The Payroll Service Delivery Consult plays a critical role in delivering accurate, compliant, and timely payroll solutions across the EMEA region. Reporting to a Regional Payroll Lead, this position contributes to EMEA HR Shared Services, ensuring efficient payroll processing while fostering strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Delivery & Compliance
- Own the monthly end-to-end payroll, ensuring adherence to payroll legislation, statutory requirements, benefits, and tax obligations.
- Conduct end-to-end payroll reconciliation and validation, in line with audit standards, governance frameworks, and internal controls.
- Review and validate payroll inputs to guarantee accurate, timely payments to employees and third parties.
- Operate within strict deadlines and timelines.
EMEA HR Shared Services Contribution
- Actively support EMEA HR Shared Services goals, aligning payroll delivery with service, risk, and employee-experience objectives.
- Promote consistency, quality, and resilience across multi-country EMEA payroll operations.
- Champion a customer-centric approach, ensuring clear communication, quick resolutions, and trusted service delivery.
- Provide cross-country payroll support as needed.
Partnership & Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate effectively with peers in pay, financial governance, and reconciliation teams to enhance business continuity.
- Build and strengthen relationships with HR teams, Finance, vendors, and key business stakeholders.
- Manage external payroll vendor relationships, ensuring service levels, compliance, and continuous improvement.
- Serve as the key point of contact for statutory bodies and auditors.
- Maintain strong, trusted stakeholder relationships through proactive engagement.

Risk, Controls & Continuous Improvement
- Embed and enforce risk management, SOX controls, and payroll governance standards.
- Identify and resolve issues through proactive judgement and collaboration.
- Contribute to payroll transformation initiatives and process improvements aligned with HR Shared Services strategy.
Essential Requirements
✅ Proven EMEA payroll experience, preferably in multi-country or complex organisational environments. ✅ Advanced Excel proficiency, including reconciliation and data validation. ✅ Strong PC skills with experience using multiple payroll systems. ✅ Ability to work independently, with accountability, initiative, and ownership. ✅ Collaborative team player who fosters trust, partnership, and flexibility. ✅ Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and payroll deadlines. ✅ Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of engaging with all stakeholder levels and external bodies. ✅ High accuracy, attention to detail, and compliance awareness in regulated environments.
Desirable Experience
🔹 Experience within a large, complex corporate organisation. 🔹 Familiarity with stock payments and payroll governance (processes, metrics, controls). 🔹 Understanding of payroll accounting, financial controls, and Finance integrations. 🔹 Experience with ADP & Workday payroll software. 🔹 Payroll qualifications (e.g., CIPP).
