Position Description
- Position Title: Emergency Medicine Career Medical Officer
Employment Type: Full-time and Part-Time
Classification: Career Medical Officer 1
Salary: $154,722 – $185,648 (plus 12.5% superannuation)
Location: North Canberra Hospital, Bruce
Section: NCH Emergency Department
Closing Date: 23 July 2026

About the Role
This Part-Time (0.6 FTE), 12-month position with possible extension requires eligibility for PGY4+. Applications admitted as soon as possible.

Hospital Background: North Canberra Hospital (NCH)
formerly Calvary Public Hospital Bruce and Clare Holland House, are now under Canberra Health Services (CHS) management. The ACT Government is advancing plans for a new Northside Hospital, slated for construction on NCH’s campus, featuring greater beds and modern services. Until completion, NCH remains operational with business as usual.

Key Responsibilities as a Career Medical Officer (CMO) in Emergency Medicine
- Collaborate with consultants in the Emergency Medicine multi-disciplinary team
- Assist in clinical management of patients by applying medical knowledge for:
- Diagnosis
- Investigation
- Treatment
- Long-term patient management and discharge
Pre-Employment Requirements
- National Police Check
- Compliance with Canberra Health Services’ Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination Policy
