Location: Rosyth, Fife Salary: £45,284 – £52,872 per annum + benefits Role Type: Full-time / Permanent, 36 hours/week (Mon–Thu on-site)

About the Role

As an Emergency Planner, you’ll play a vital role in safeguarding people, assets, and critical infrastructure within a highly regulated nuclear and defence environment. This is an exciting opportunity to support the development and delivery of emergency preparedness strategies, ensuring readiness for complex, high-impact scenarios critical to national security.


Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering emergency response exercises, including:
    • Planning and coordinating large-scale demonstration events with regulators and emergency services
  • Supporting the management and training of the Nuclear Emergency Response Organisation to ensure operational readiness
  • Maintaining emergency plans, systems, and response facilities to meet regulatory standards
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders and external agencies to enhance site-wide emergency preparedness
  • Advising on emergency response and resilience activities in a nuclear and defence environment

Essential Experience & Qualifications

Experience Required

  • Recent experience in emergency planning or emergency response environments
  • Ability to apply regulatory compliance knowledge within high-risk settings
  • Experience in implementing or advising on emergency arrangements and command-and-control frameworks
  • Strong understanding of resilience, compliance, and emergency management principles
  • Fluent use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)

Qualifications

  • Desirable: Completion of the Nuclear Accident Procedures Course (NAPC)
  • Security Clearance: Must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC). Applicants must meet UK security vetting requirements (GOV.UK guidance).
