Emerging Talent Learning and Development Lead

The Role

Own and continuously improve the end-to-end development experience for Graduates, Summer Interns and Degree Apprentices within our Technology Emerging Talent Community in the UK. Partner with local and global Emerging Talent colleagues and key business stakeholders to deliver a high-quality programme, strong learner experience and effective outcomes for the organisation.


Key Accountabilities

Programme Ownership & Delivery

  • Design, evolve and deliver the Graduate, Internship and Degree Apprenticeship development programmes, including programme structure, learning journey, and annual planning.
  • Lead on the planning and execution of our Graduate Inductions, Internship programme, and apprenticeship inductions.
  • Own the management of the Emerging Talent community in Sheffield to boost their experience, integration, and growth within the organisation.
  • Drive line manager engagement and capability, ensuring managers understand expectations, tools, and best practice in supporting emerging talent.

Learning Design & Facilitation

  • Design and deliver engaging virtual and in-person development sessions to improve behaviours and impact of Emerging Talent in the technology function.
  • Curate learning pathways and resources aligned with programme outcomes and capability needs.
  • Partner with internal subject matter experts (SMEs) and external vendors to shape and deliver learning solutions that meet both technical and non-technical business needs.
  • Assist Emerging Talent in preparation for the next stage of their career journey post programme.

Data, Insight & Continuous Improvement

  • Track, analyse, and report programme data and insights (e.g., feedback, engagement, retention/attrition, Diversity & Inclusion outcomes, performance results).
  • Use evidence and learner/stakeholder feedback to drive continuous improvement and measurable programme impact.

Recruitment Partnership (End-to-End Journey)

  • Collaborate with Emerging Talent Recruitment to support the candidate journey, offer-holder engagement, onboarding readiness, and effective role matching.
  • Contribute to attraction and selection activities where required (e.g., assessment support & events).

Stakeholder Partnership

  • Build trusted relationships with Emerging Talent and line managers, balancing Emerging Talent priorities with business delivery needs.
  • Provide a high-quality stakeholder experience via clear communication, pragmatic problem-solving, and timely follow-through.

Learner Support & Case Management

  • Coach and guide managers and Emerging Talent on performance, development challenges, and engagement topics.
  • Maintain programme documentation, communications, and operational cadence to ensure a smooth learner and manager experience.
  • Escalate appropriately within HR processes where required.

Skills & Requirements

Aptitude & HR Capabilities

  • Demonstratable experience supporting an Emerging Talent development strategy (graduates/interns/apprentices) and translating strategy into practical delivery plans.
  • Organised and detail-oriented, with strong programme management discipline and follow-through.
  • Effective clear, credible communicator (communicating both written and verbal) able to engage audiences at all levels.
  • Customer-focused and resilient, able to manage a demanding internal client base and competing priorities.
  • Collaborative and consultative approach; actively contributes ideas and drives continuous improvement.
  • Strong coaching mindset with the ability to support managers and learners through performance and development challenges.

Experience / Qualifications

  • Experience in Emerging Talent and/or Learning & Development, ideally within a fast-paced, stakeholder-heavy environment.
  • Strong knowledge of the development landscape (learning design, facilitation, vendor partnership, blended learning).
  • Confident facilitator and presenter, with experience in both virtual and in-person engagement.
  • Experience coaching or supporting early-career talent (or equivalent role).
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
