Employability Practitioner
Employment Plus – Employment Advisor (Employability Practitioner)
Location: Peripatetic ( berbasis in and travel across Flintshire, Denbighshire & Conwy )
Work start date: ASAP Hours: Minimum of 35 hours per week

Job Overview

As an Employability Practitioner, you’ll:
- Identify opportunities to reduce or remove barriers to employment
- Build relationships and motivate participants to build job-ready skills
- Work proactively to secure tailored job opportunities in the local community
- Promote creativity & community growth within Flintshire, Denbighshire & Conwy

About You
We’re looking for someone who: ✔ Is proactive, solution-focused & collaborative ✔ Thrives in team environments and has empathy for people facing multiple barriers ✔ Is self-motivated, resilient & committed to driving change ✔ Has a passion for equipping people with the tools they need to succeed ✔ Is driven by a sense of purpose – helping others isn’t just a job, it’s a focus
Essential requirement: ✅ Full UK driving licence + access to a reliable vehicle (to travel between locations).

Core Tasks:
- Assess individual needs—identify and work to remove barriers to employment (e.g., welfare, mental health, motivation)
- Personalise support plans—collaborate with clients on a bespoke approach to cotide employment
- Connect & refer to relevant services (e.g. housing, finance, wellbeing) as needed
- Engage actively in community networks to spot emerging job opportunities
- Track progress and provide visible, motivational improvements to participants
- Engage with employers to improve local access to employment
- Respond professionally to ethical dilemmas, ensuring dignity and confidentiality
Team & Communication:
- Work closely with social services, charities, and local employers to expand opportunities
- Maintain strong relationships with Volunteers & Salvation Army teams across Flintshire, Denbighshire & Conwy
- Provide reporting & progress updates to the team
Essential Criteria
- Empathy & patience – Ability to converse with people from diverse backgrounds ASAP
- Strong relationship-building skills – Trust is crucial in this high-support role
- Problem-solving mindset – Focussed on sustainable solutions (not just quick fixes)
- Assertiveness & boundary skills – Upholding boundaries while gently encouraging change
- Bilingual advantage? (No specified here—but Welsh situation is an asset )
Digital Skills:
- Computer-literate (e.g., email, Microsoft Office)
- Comfortable using Job Isabella, Find-a-Job & Jobsearch.gov.uk Support Providers Databases
Brand Representation:
- Average to positive awareness of The Salvation Army’s work
- Compliance with Protection of Vulnerable Groups (POVG) safeguarding standards
Desirable but not always required
- Experience supporting neurodivergent, disabled, neurodivergent or ex-offenders
- Familiarity with Community Care Capital or similar collaborative frameworks
- Gaybridge with local neighbourhood groups, councils, or charities
