Join Howdens as an ER Advisor and develop your Employee Relations expertise with a FTSE 100 market leader.

As part of our experienced Employee Relations team, you'll play a key role in delivering a professional, high-quality ER service across the business. Working alongside knowledgeable and supportive colleagues who are passionate about achieving the right outcomes, you'll gain exposure to a wide range of employee relations matters while helping to make a positive difference to both managers and employees.

Our HR Shared Services team operates a hybrid working pattern, spending four days a week in the office and one day working from home.

What are my responsibilities as an ER Advisor?

  • Partner with managers through coaching and mentoring to ensure that casework is resolved in a professional manner, in line with policy timescales. Advisory options are presented to our managers in a way that they can use advice to make their own commercial decisions as well as understand the risk and wider implications.
  • Respond to employee queries and concerns without undermining line manager relationship and escalating concerns appropriately.
  • Responsible for the preparation of case documentation as necessary, ensuring the investigation/hearing manager is ultimately the owner of the final documentation.
  • Work closely with managers in order to develop an understanding of the business and to establish a professional working relationship with managers and colleagues at all levels.

What do I need to qualify for this ER Advisor role?

  • Experience managing a portfolio of ER cases, ideally within a shared services environment
  • Good knowledge of employment law/employee relations issues through working within an HR team.
  • Ability to understand the crux of the situation and quickly gain trust.
  • Building solid working relationships and effectively communicate at any level.
  • Ability to respond to changing demands and priorities
