Employee Relations Advisor – Tombola
About the Role
At tombola, our People team is committed to creating a positive and supportive experience for every colleague. As an Employee Relations Advisor, you'll play an important role in helping us achieve that mission.
Working as part of our Employee Relations team, you will provide practical, timely advice and guidance on a wide range of employee relations matters. You’ll collaborate closely with People Partners, People Managers, and colleagues across the business to ensure processes are fair, consistent, and aligned with employment legislation and company policies.
This dynamic role combines case management, coaching, policy guidance, and administration. It’s ideal for someone who enjoys building trusted relationships, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is passionate about delivering a fantastic colleague experience.
What You’ll Do
Core Responsibilities
- Provide practical, proactive advice and guidance on a wide range of people-related matters.
- Support and coach People Managers through employee relations cases, ensuring fair, consistent, and compliant outcomes.
- Manage employee relations cases holistically, from start to finish, including preparing and reviewing documentation as required.
- Serve as the first point of contact for general HR queries—covering topics like policies, benefits, holiday arrangements, and more.
- Work closely with People Partners and the wider People team to deliver a high-quality, consistent people service.
- Maintain accurate case records and HR systems, ensuring documentation and reporting meet the highest standards.
- Analyse employee relations data, identifying trends and sharing insightful recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Stay up-to-date with UK employment legislation updates and recommend necessary adjustments to policies and practices.
- Build effective relationships with external employment law providers and specialist partners to support robust case management.
- Handle more complex employee relations activities, including:
- Redundancy and TUPE processes
- Settlement agreements
- Employment tribunal preparation
- Attend and represent the business in employment tribunals when required.
- Contribute to wider People initiatives and projects that enhance the colleague experience.

Essential Requirements
Skills & Experience
- Experience managing a varied employee relations caseload independently.
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and best practice in employee relations.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across all levels of the organisation.
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Sound understanding of HR policies, processes, and compliance requirements.
- Solution-focused mindset, with confidence to provide practical, balanced advice at critical junctures.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- Resilience and adaptability, comfortable working in an evolving and dynamic setting.
- High attention to detail, with a commitment to maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
