Employee Relations Advisor
Employee Relations Advisor – Tombola People Team
At Tombola, our People team is dedicated to fostering a positive and supportive environment for every colleague. As an Employee Relations Advisor, you’ll play a vital role in achieving this mission.
About the Role
Working within our Employee Relations team, you’ll provide practical, timely advice and guidance on a wide range of employee relations matters. Partnering closely with People Partners, People Managers, and colleagues across the business, you’ll help ensure people processes are fair, consistent, and aligned with employment legislation and company policies.
This is a dynamic role that blends case management, coaching, policy guidance, and administration. It’s ideal for someone who relishes building trusted relationships, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is passionate about enhancing the employee experience.
responsibilities
- Provide practical, proactive advice on a wide range of people-related matters
- Support and coach People Managers through employee relations cases, ensuring fair, consistent, and compliant outcomes
- Manage the entire employee relations caseload—from inception to conclusion—including preparing and reviewing documentation as required
- Serve as the first point of contact for:
- General HR queries
- Policies, benefits, and holiday-related questions
- Collaborate closely with People Partners and the wide People team to deliver a high-quality, consistent people service
- Maintain accurate case records and HR systems, ensuring comprehensive documentation and high-standard reporting
- Analyse employee relations data, identifying trends and sharing insights to support continuous improvement
- Stay updated on changes in UK employment legislation, recommending policy and practice updates where necessary
- Build effective external relationships, working with employment law providers and specialist partners to support case management
- Handle complex cases, including:
- Redundancy
- TUPE (Transfer of Undertakings)
- Settlement agreements
- Employment tribunal preparation
- Tribunal attendance support
- Contribute to widely aligned People initiatives and projects designed to enhance the colleague experience

requirements
Essential
- Proven experience managing a varied, independent employee relations caseload
- Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and employee relations best practices
- Outstanding communication skills—ability to build trusted relationships at all levels
- Strong organisational skills with proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Sound grasp of HR policies, processes, and compliance requirements
- A solution-focused approach with confidence to deliver practical, balanced advice
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills
- Highly resilient and adaptable, able to thrive in an evolving environment
- Exceptional attention to detail, commitment to maintaining accurate records and documentation
