Job Description

Employee Relations Advisor

As an Employee Relations Advisor at PortmanDentex, you'll play a pivotal role in supporting managers and colleagues through a wide range of Employee Relations matters, providing expert, pragmatic advice that ensures fair, consistent and legally compliant outcomes. You'll manage a varied caseload, building trusted relationships with stakeholders while helping to resolve complex people issues with confidence, empathy and professionalism.

Working as part of our close-knit People Business Partnering Team, you'll partner with People colleagues, Operations and leaders across the business to deliver high-quality Employee Relations support, helping managers navigate sensitive situations while balancing commercial needs with a positive colleague experience.

This role has a strong focus on Employee Relations case management and offers the opportunity to support our mergers and acquisitions activity, including organisational change and TUPE transfers. It is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys managing complex ER cases, influencing stakeholders and delivering practical people solutions in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

We'd love to hear from you if you have the following skills and experience:

  • Significant experience managing a broad range of Employee Relations cases from start to finish, including disciplinary, grievance, absence management, performance, capability, flexible working and other complex employee matters.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation and confidence providing commercially focused, risk-based advice that ensures fair, consistent and legally compliant decision-making.
  • Experience leading or supporting TUPE transfers, organisational change programmes and consultation processes, providing clear guidance to managers and colleagues throughout periods of change.
  • Comfortable managing a busy Employee Relations caseload, prioritising effectively while maintaining high levels of accuracy, professionalism and attention to detail.
  • Experience working collaboratively with external stakeholders, including ACAS, employment solicitors and employee representatives, to achieve positive outcomes.
  • CIPD Level 5 qualification (or equivalent practical HR experience) with a strong Employee Relations background.
  • Excellent coaching, influencing and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to support and challenge managers to achieve the right outcomes.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, multi-site environment, ideally supporting organisations through periods of growth, organisational change or mergers and acquisitions.
