Location: Elland, West Yorkshire Working arrangement: Hybrid (1–2 days in the office), Monday to Friday – 37.5 hours per week

Our approach to HR isn’t just about policies and procedures—it’s about human connection, trust, and being a reliable support system for our teams. We’re seeking an experienced Employee Relations Advisor to join our People Services team, playing a hands-on role that makes a tangible difference.


The Opportunity

As our Employee Relations Advisor, you’ll be the go-to expert for all employee relations matters, delivering discreet yet impactful support across our manufacturing sites and office functions. You will:

  • Manage a broad employee relations caseload including:

    • Performance and absence management
    • Disciplinary and grievance proceedings
    • Leading investigations and appropriately challenging findings
  • Support managers and leaders with:

    • Best-practice coaching and interpretation of UK employment legislation
    • Responsible casework management from start to finish, including notetaking in formal meetings
    • Advice on drug and alcohol policies
    • Guidance on maintaining strong union relationships
  • Deliver HR training and developmental support, including:

    • Introducing new managers to HR policies
    • Occupational health referral facilitation
    • Data-driven insights on absence triggers and workforce management
  • Work closely with HR Business Partners and the Head of People Services to:

    • Enhance employee relations during organisational change
    • Drive process improvements
    • Act as a first port of call for complex HR challenges

This role is hybrid, requiring 1–2 days per week at our Elland office, with travel to sites across the UK to provide in-person support when needed.


Reports to: Head of People Services


What You’ll Bring

You’ll be a strategic, proactive people professional with:

  • Proven experience managing a varied and high-pressure employee relations caseload, including expert handling of disciplinary, grievance, performance, and absence cases

  • Deep knowledge of UK employment law and its practical application

  • Managers’ coach and policy interpreter, guiding line teams through best practice and handling the end-to-end casework spectrum

  • Success in organisational change initiatives, including supporting managers and staff adaptations

  • Excellent communication skills, adept at coaching, influencing, and constructive challenge with confidence

  • Self-driven work ethic, proven ability to prioritise effectively, escalate complex/high-risk issues, and maintain accountability

  • Troubleshooting spirit – capable of identifying process gaps, proposing improvements, and resolving issues with initiative

  • Experience delivering HR workshops, including introductory sessions for managers

  • Strong organisation, including maintaining accurate case logs, tracking absence data, and managing concurrent projects

  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and upskilling

  • Hugely beneficial but not mandatory:

    • Experience contributing in unionised workplaces
    • CIPD Level 5 qualification (or equivalent professional credentials)
