Employee Relations Consultant

Role overview As one of our Employee Relations Consultants within HR, you’ll be aligned to a specific business area and work closely with our leaders, working autonomously to support and coach leaders on colleague issues, with a strong focus on managing risk, driving consistency and enabling effective organisational change. You’ll be proactive and play an active role in supporting both our commercial objectives and our people strategy in a dynamic and fast-moving environment. Job details – you’ll need to have demonstrable experience in: Partnering with your aligned business area and supporting the delivery of agreed commercial and people outcomes through informed coaching, employee relations expertise and change initiatives Proactively working with our leaders to drive early identification and resolution of issues across core areas Coaching leaders to understand and apply agreed policies and processes, ensuring we’re supporting consistent and fair decision making Managing employee relations casework end-to-end, including advising and coaching leaders on best practices to achieve fair and reasonable outcomes for both colleagues and the business Identifying and highlighting trends emerging from casework in order to support the leadership team in addressing key risk and improvement areas, providing effective and insightful reporting Overall management of complex employee relations matters in a highly regulated, fast-paced environment Essential skills/experience: Strong experience within Employee Relations within a highly regulated environment (such as insurance, financial services etc.) Must have experience in supporting companies through periods of organisational change; proven ability and experience in planning, leading and supporting organisational change programmes, alongside a strong understanding of redeployment/alternative principles including identifying suitable roles, managing a fair selection process and minimising risk through effective redeployment strategies Comfortable operating at pace, managing multiple priorities simultaneously with the ability to adapt to evolving business needs Proven experience leading collective and individual consultation processes including working with Trade Unions and colleague forums A strong understanding of the Employment Rights Act 2025, with the ability to translate legislative requirements into practical and commercially sound ER advice – with outstanding written and verbal communication skills to be able to explain complex issues in a clear and practical manner Have a clear understanding of processes involving absence management, conduct, grievances and performance management cases – including the use of MI The interview process Our interview process involves the below: Recruiter intro/screening call 1st stage interview with Employee Relations Team Leader(s) 2nd interview with Hiring Leader/Employee Relations Manager 3rd interview with Head of Employee Relations As a Disability Confident employer, we’re committed to ensuring our recruitment processes are fully inclusive – what this means to you is if you’re applying for a job with us, you’ll have fair access to support and adjustments throughout your recruitment journey.
