About the Role

We are hiring for an Employee Relations Partner role—full-time, with options for:

  • 1 permanent position
  • 1 fixed-term contract (12 months)

Based in Bridgwater or Stroud, with hybrid working (2-3 days per week on site). Part-time working arrangements may be considered.

As the Employee Relations Partner, your mission is to drive best practice in employee relations, supporting managers in disciplinary, grievance, performance management, and long-term absence cases—ensuring fair solutions for both employees and the business. You’ll act as the Trusted Advisor and subject matter expert to legal & HR teams, developing people policies and data-driven insights to strengthen our employer brand.

The role requires regulated site attendance (travel as needed) to build relationships and build deep knowledge of partner sites.


What You’ll Do

Core Responsibilities

Case Management

  • Avoid unnecessary tribunal claims by advocating for resolution that benefits both employees and the business.
  • Collaborate closely with Site HR Business Partner and Internal Legal Counsel to align on key ER decisions.

People Manager Development

  • Train, coach, and influence people managers on people-related topics, improving their capability and confidence.
  • Support the delivery of HR training on ER processes and best practices.

Escalations & High-Stake Decisions

  • Escalate complex or high-risk cases to Head of HR / Legal Counsel for resolution.
  • Assist Legal in tribunal preparations and managing PR risk.

Data-Informed & Trend-Driven Improvements

  • Identify internal and external people trends using data to propose actionable improvement strategies.
  • Develop new or refine existing people policies that enhance employee experience and reduce legal risks.

What You’ll Bring

The ideal candidate will have: ✅ Proven expertise in employee relations, from first infused discussion to the full case management lifecycle. ✅ Strong stakeholder management—ability to build trust and adapt quickly to different leadership styles. ✅ Data literacy—using insights to influence strategies and improve ER policies. ✅ Deep knowledge of UK employment law and a CIPD Associate / Chartered membership (or equivalent qualification). ✅ A passion for change, taking the initiative to implement operational improvements and drive CI projects. ✅ Strong communication and influencing skills—balanced with practical problem-solving. ✅ Customer-centric mindset and acute attention to detail. ✅ Success in delivering UK work via SLA/KPI targets.

  • Experience working with rack WK/hr or site-level issues.
  • Background in HRI/O or HRBP roles.
