Employee Relations Partner

Employee Relations Partner – Join Müller UK & Ireland

Location & Contract

  • Location: Bridgwater or Stroud / Hybrid (2-3 days per week on site)
  • Contract: Full-Time
    • 1 permanent role available
    • 1 12-month fixed-term contract role available
  • Hours: Monday–Friday (40 hours, part-time arrangements considered)

Employee Relations Partner is a dynamic role where you’ll drive impactful change, build strong relationships, and shape workplace excellence alongside UKIL’s core values.


Your Responsibilities

Core Duties

  • Employee Relations & Case Management

    • Advocate a resolution-focused culture to enhance business outcomes.
    • Collaborate with the Site HR Business Partner (HRBP) and internal Legal Counsel to align strategic employee relations (ER) decisions.
    • Handle cases relating to long-term absence, disciplinary procedures, grievances, and performance management, ensuring fair and compliant resolutions.
    • Serve as the subject matter expert on ER policies, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure adherence to UK employment legislation.
  • People Manager Development

    • Coach and guide people managers to improve their handling of employee relations issues.
    • Strengthen knowledge, capability, and confidence in ER topics.
    • Design and deliver training programs around ER processes and responsibilities.

  • Escalation & Legal Support

    • Escalate complex, high-risk, or high-exposure cases to leadership (e.g., Head of HR, HRBP, Legal Counsel) for strategic resolutions.
    • Support Legal Counsel during employment tribunal cases, ensuring robust defense tactics.
    • Mitigate risks related to PR exposure and legal liability.
  • Data Insights & Trend Analysis

    • Proactively analyze internal and external trends to provide meaningful employee relations insights.
    • Develop policy improvements that enhance employee experience and reduce business risk.
    • Work with business leaders to implement people relations programs aligned to organizational goals.
    • Advocate for continuous operational improvement within employee relations.

What We’re Looking For

Essential Criteria

  • Proven experience in managing full-cycle employee relations issues, including:
    • Handling confidential discussions, disciplinary hearings, and investigations.
    • Advising on company policies, contractual matters, and reporting structures.
  • Strong stakeholder management—ability to adapt communication styles, build rapid trust-based relationships, and deliver service excellence across all seniority levels.
  • Data-driven mindset—experience interpreting employee trends to support better HR strategy.
  • Expertise in UK employment law, including up-to-date knowledge on legislative changes; ideally:
    • Relevant specialist employment law certification or
    • CIPD Associate or Chartered qualification (or equivalent).
  • Passion for continuous improvement with a record of independently driving policy or process change.
  • Exceptional influencing and communication skills—capable of interacting seamlessly with leadership, mid-level managers, and frontline teams.
  • Strong customer focus—delivering measurable results on time.
  • Detail-orientated with excellent problem-solving, analytical, and time-management skills (familiarity with SLAs/KPIs).
  • Amongst other qualities:
    • Strong written and verbal communication.
    • Adaptability for frequent travel to multiple site locations (flexible mobbing as needed).
