Employee Relations Specialist (6-Month Fixed-Term Contract)

Manchester | Hybrid Working | Up to £46,000

Are you an experienced Employee Relations professional who thrives on navigating complex cases and providing expert advice that makes a real difference? We're partnering exclusively with a well-established national organisation to recruit an Employee Relations Specialist on a 6-month fixed-term contract. This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative People team, supporting the business through a varied and high-profile ER caseload.

The Opportunity

Working within a specialist Employee Relations team, you'll be the go-to expert for the most complex and sensitive employee relations matters, providing pragmatic, commercial advice while balancing legal risk and employee experience. Alongside managing your own caseload, you'll coach HR colleagues, contribute to policy development and support the wider People team with evolving employment legislation and best practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage complex employee relations cases from start to finish, including disciplinaries, grievances, capability, absence and sensitive employee matters.
  • Lead on Employment Tribunal and Early Conciliation cases, working alongside external legal advisors where required.
  • Coach and support HR Advisers, helping to develop capability across the wider team.
  • Review and develop ER policies, guidance and toolkits to ensure compliance and consistency.
  • Provide expert employment law advice to managers and senior stakeholders.
  • Analyse ER trends and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Build positive relationships with managers, employee representatives and trade unions.
  • Support wider People projects and legislative changes as required.

About You

You'll already be operating as an Employee Relations Specialist or Senior HR professional with significant ER expertise and be comfortable handling highly complex and high-risk cases.

  • Strong UK employment law knowledge.
  • Experience managing Employment Tribunals and Early Conciliation.
  • Proven ability to coach and influence managers and HR colleagues.
  • Confidence dealing with sensitive, high-profile and emotionally complex cases.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
