Employee Relations Specialist
Employee Relations (ER) Specialist – Northampton
Permanent | c£40,000 + excellent benefits | Hybrid (2 days WFH, post-training)
Our client—a well-established and growing organisation in transformation—is expanding its People function to deliver consistent, high-quality HR support across all business areas. As an ER Specialist, you will lead expert oversight of a wide range of employee relations matters, including:
- Long-term absence
- Disciplinary actions
- Grievances
- Appeals & investigations
- SARS (Serious and Alleged Misconduct)
Reporting to the ER Manager, this role involves:
Key Responsibilities
- Providing expert guidance to managers on complex employee relations cases, ensuring they are handled fairly, consistently, and in line with company policies, employment legislation, and current legal updates.
- Supporting investigations, hearings, and disciplinary processes, while advising on performance, absence, and capability issues.
- Delivering telephone-based ER advice (high call volume) to support managers effectively.
- Collaborating with leadership to maintain a positive, compliant, and consistent employee experience.

Ideal Candidate Profile
You will be an experienced HR professional with: ✔ Strong background in employee relations, particularly in high-volume case management. ✔ Experience in telephone-based advisory support (retail, HR consultancy, or similar preferred). ✔ Proven ability to:
- Build trust, influence, and credibility quickly.
- Manage fast-paced work, meet deadlines, and demonstrate excellent attention to detail.
- Adopt a collaborative, solutions-focused approach.
