Job Description

Location: Bridgend College (CF31 3DF), with regular community outreach.
Hours: 35.5 hours per week.
Working pattern: 39 weeks during term time, plus an additional 3 weeks worked during school holidays (42 working weeks per year).
Salary: Full-time equivalent (FTE) salary of £24,828. Actual salary £23,586 per annum, pro rata to reflect the term-time working pattern and additional non-working weeks.
Driving license and own car: Essential criteria for applicants due to the outreach nature of this role.

We aim to respond to candidates as soon as possible, interviews for this role will take place in August.

Role Overview

Are you passionate about making a difference in people’s lives? This programme supports students with learning needs who are referred from Bridgend College. As an Employment Adviser you will work closely with each participant to help them navigate their placement, build confidence and develop workplace skills. Following the placement, the Employment Adviser will also assist participants in progressing into suitable employment or further opportunities beyond the college.

About The Role

  • Accept and assess referrals to identify employment goals, barriers, and support needs.
  • Deliver pre-employment activities and manage a caseload to support access to employment.
  • Provide accredited and non-accredited training to individuals and groups.
  • Liaise with employers to secure job opportunities, placements, and volunteering roles.
  • Support employers with reasonable adjustments and promote Disability Confident practices.
  • Deliver in-work support, job coaching, and job maintenance strategies.
  • Promote ELITE’s services through presentations and marketing events.
  • Provide financial guidance, including Better Off in Work calculations.
  • Maintain accurate records, monitor participant progress, and meet project KPIs.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to maximise outcomes.

About You

  • Full driving license and access to a vehicle. (E)
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and bank holidays. (E)
  • Strong understanding of the needs of disabled and disadvantaged individuals. (E)
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. (E)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. (E)
  • Strong organisational and time management skills. (E)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). (E)
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and safeguarding practices. (E)
  • Experience in supported employment or welfare-to-work environments. (D)
  • Knowledge of Supported Employment techniques. (D)
  • Ability to speak and/or write fluent Welsh. (D)
  • Knowledge of the local employment market and benefit system. (D)
