Employment Advisor – Job Description

As an Employment Advisor, you will work directly with a caseload of customers, helping them overcome barriers to employment. Your role will provide essential support to empower individuals, equipping them with the skills and confidence needed for secure and sustained employment.
You will build strong relationships by motivating, challenging, and encouraging customers to achieve their potential while achieving your own job-specific targets.
Role Duties
- Meet personal performance targets and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Manage a caseload of customers using diverse coaching strategies, preparing them for interviews and job searching
- Conduct in-depth assessments using specialist tools to understand:
- Customers’ circumstances
- Their preferences
- Holistic barriers to progression
- Co-produce personalised, tailored SMART action plans with sequenced interventions and development opportunities
- Utilise an integration framework of local specialist services to support customers with:
- Substance misuse
- Anger management
- Debt advice
- Health and vocational training
- Identify employers’ recruitment needs and deliver tailored pre-screens and group assessments
- Co-produce effective in-work support plans with participants and employers
- Proactively contribute to continuous improvement to ensure excellent customer service
- Compliance with company policies, including:
- Personal data security
- Safeguarding
- Health & safety
- Work from local hubs and community outreach locations (often alongside housing, health, and primary care centres) to enhance service accessibility

Essential Criteria
Attributes & Mindset
- Customer-focused, with a strong commitment to customer care
- A strong team player with a positive, flexible, and collaborative approach
- Experience in fast-paced, target-driven environments
Technical & Digital Competencies
- Previous experience delivering services that meet contractual and quality standards
- Fully IT literate, proficient in:
- Microsoft Office (including 365 products)
- Modern digital technologies (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google)
- Strong communicator capable of:
- Listening actively
- Asking insightful questions
- Building rapport and relationships

Problem-Solving & Workflow
- Demonstrable creative problem-solving skills with a positive approach to overcoming barriers
- Ability to plan and organise workload to meet targets and deadlines
- Prior experience in a similar role within the Welfare to Work sector is desirable
Industry Knowledge
- Familiarity with employability sector trends (desirable)
- Previous experience in recruitment backgrounds (desirable)

Salary: £26,700.00 – £27,500.00
