Job title: Employment Engagement Officer
Location: Oak Tree School, Truro, TR4 9NH
Salary: £35,000 per annum (not pro rata)
Hours: 42.5 hours per week | Monday to Friday | 8am - 4:30pm
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only
Start: September 2026

As part of our continued growth, we are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Employment Engagement Officer to join our dedicated team. In this rewarding role, you will work closely with students, employers and school staff to create high-quality work experience opportunities and meaningful employer encounters that inspire ambition, build confidence and prepare young people for adulthood.
Working as part of our Careers Programme, you will play a vital role in delivering the Gatsby Benchmarks, ensuring every student benefits from valuable experiences that develop employability skills, broaden aspirations and support positive destinations beyond school.
What you will be doing
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with local employers, businesses and community organisations to create exciting opportunities for students.
- Source, coordinate and monitor high-quality work experience placements that reflect students' interests, strengths and future aspirations.
- Prepare students for the workplace through employability workshops, careers guidance and ongoing support before, during and after placements.
- Collaborate with teaching staff to embed careers education and employer engagement across the curriculum.
- Ensure all placements meet safeguarding, health and safety and compliance requirements while maintaining accurate records and reporting on programme outcomes.

What We’re Looking For
- Qualified with a Level 6 Diploma in Careers Guidance and Development and Level 6 Certificate in Careers Leadership.
- QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification required.
- An excellent communicator with outstanding relationship-building skills.
- Experienced in working with employers, external partners or within careers, education or business engagement.
- Highly organised, proactive and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Passionate about supporting young people to develop the skills, confidence and aspirations needed for future success.
Experience within a school environment, knowledge of local labour market information and experience delivering workshops or presentations would be advantageous.
