We’re looking for an Employment Law Associate to join one of the largest teams of employment and immigration lawyers in Wales. The successful candidate will have experience in providing day to day employment advice as well as a track record of employment tribunal work. We also represent the British Medical Association, providing tribunal representation to their doctors.
We also undertake sensitive, complex, and often high-profile employment investigations, with our team forming part of the firm’s wider Business Crime Investigations Unit. Whilst previous experience of employment investigations would be helpful, a willingness to learn and develop in this area is the most important.

An understanding of the importance of client relationships and experience of creating or strengthening them. Technical competence and commercial awareness. Excellent written and oral communication skills with clear written presentation. Effective organisational skills with good time management, initiative, and problem-solving ability. . The ability to work collaboratively with others, as part of a large team, but also the confidence to work independently. An interest in line management and mentorship of colleagues in the team. A willingness to travel regularly to Cardiff and occasionally to London, to visit clients and colleagues. The ability to undertake legal work in the Welsh (both written and verbal) is desirable.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
