I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Working closely with our Employment Law advice teams and wider WorkNest colleagues, you will play a key role in delivering a consistent and high-quality service to clients. You will take a pragmatic and commercial approach to case management, ensuring clients feel supported, informed, and confident throughout the tribunal process, while maintaining the highest professional standards.

About You

You will bring a strong working knowledge of UK Employment Law and HR, alongside excellent drafting, analytical, and negotiation skills.
You will be comfortable managing complex caseloads independently and proactively, with the ability to prioritise work effectively and meet strict tribunal deadlines and procedural requirements. Experience working within an Employment Law or HR consultancy environment is desirable, as is holding a law degree, CIPD qualification, or equivalent professional experience. Experience delivering training or webinars would also be an advantage, but is not essential.
