Employment Lawyer

Employment Lawyer – Fully Remote

North Northamptonshire Council

North Northamptonshire Council is seeking an experienced Employment Lawyer to join their Legal Services team on a full-time, fully remote basis. This is an excellent opportunity to support a busy local authority with a varied caseload of employment law matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality legal advice on a wide range of employment law issues, including:
    • Disciplinary proceedings
    • Grievances
    • Redundancy
    • TUPE
    • Tribunal matters
  • Manage and conduct employment tribunal cases, including preparation of documentation and representation where required
  • Advise HR and senior management on complex employment matters and risk mitigation strategies
  • Draft and review policies, procedures, and legal documentation in line with current legislation
  • Support organisational change projects and restructuring initiatives

Requirements

  • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or CILEX
  • Significant post-qualification experience in employment law
  • Proven experience working within local government or the public sector (highly desirable)
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • UK employment legislation
    • Tribunal processes
  • Ability to:
    • Manage a varied caseload independently
    • Meet strict deadlines
  • Excellent:
    • Communication skills
    • Stakeholder management abilities
