Employment Senior Associate

Employment Associate | London | Leading Employment Practice

Title - Associate/Senior Associate DOE PQE - 3 years +

Ortus Group is working in partnership with an independent City law firm with a highly regarded Employment team to recruit an ambitious Employment Associate. The department is busy, growing and this is creating opportunities for ambitious Associates who want to play a key role in a market leading Employment practice.

This is an outstanding opportunity to join a market-leading practice advising a diverse client base that includes businesses across the retail, leisure, professional services, financial services, media, technology, arts and culture sectors, including many with international operations.

The successful candidate will work closely with experienced Partners on a broad mix of contentious, non-contentious and strategic employment matters, while developing strong client relationships and taking on increasing responsibility.

The Role

You will advise clients on a wide range of employment law issues, including:

  • Employment tribunal litigation and dispute resolution
  • Disciplinary, grievance, capability and absence management processes
  • Redundancy and workforce restructuring programmes
  • Discrimination, harassment and whistleblowing matters
  • Senior executive exits and retention arrangements
  • Restrictive covenants, confidentiality and post-termination restrictions
  • Employment aspects of corporate transactions, including M&A due diligence and TUPE-related matters
  • Drafting employment contracts, service agreements and workplace policies
  • Cross-border workforce projects and international employment issues
  • Partnership and LLP matters
  • Regulatory employment issues affecting financial services businesses, including SMCR-related advice

About You

Applications are welcomed from lawyers who can demonstrate:

  • Strong employment law experience across contentious and non-contentious matters
  • The ability to manage matters and client relationships with appropriate supervision
  • Excellent technical and commercial judgement
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • A collaborative approach and desire to work as part of a high-performing team
  • An interest in business development and building a personal profile in the market
  • A commitment to delivering exceptional client service
