Senior Employment Solicitor - National top tiers firm with rapid growth in the north.
Location: Manchester.
My client are a national firm, top tier, with a thriving and growing practice in the north. Employment team is seeking a senior associate to LD level person.
This firm is renowned for a high quality of work, but better WLB than some of the globals. But still pays very well with an excellent benefits package.
Mix of contentious and non. Get in touch for more info.
Also, worth mentioning I have recently placed a legal director in employment into a tier one global firm in the city from one of the big4.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Employment is very busy at all levels right now. It truly is a great time too to explore the market in confidence. Many of our clients will do soft exploratory confidential first chats with experienced employment lawyers, despite not having advertised roles out there. Which is exactly how I placed my LD.

I’m always happy to chat generally about the market and take a long view. Whether a better title, WLB or more money, you might be surprised how much more you can get out there right now. It is insanely competitive for strong employment lawyers and one of the best markets we have seen for a move. So do reach out for a confidential chat.
