Employment Specialist

Working across Kendal & Barrow

£32,061 (25 Days Holiday Bank Holidays, Local Government Pension Scheme)

Full-time, Permanent

The Role:

We are recruiting for an IPS Employment Specialist to support individuals facing barriers into sustainable employment across Kendal and Barrow.

This is a rewarding, person-centred role where you will manage a varied caseload, providing tailored one-to-one support to help individuals build confidence, develop skills, and secure meaningful work. You'll take a proactive approach, working closely with local employers to identify opportunities and support customers throughout their journey into employment and beyond.

This role would suit someone with a background in recruitment or employability who has a genuine passion for making a positive difference.

The role involves:

  • Managing a caseload of customers, conducting detailed assessments to identify strengths and barriers to employment
  • Creating personalised action plans aligned to individual goals and career aspirations
  • Supporting customers with job search activities, CV writing, interview preparation and skills development
  • Building confidence and independence through regular engagement, coaching and goal setting
  • Engaging with employers to identify suitable opportunities and promote candidates
  • Providing in-work support to ensure job retention and address any challenges within employment

You'll need:

  • Experience as an employment advisor or as a commercial recruitment consultant
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to motivate and influence
  • Proven ability to manage a caseload or pipeline and achieve outcomes or KPIs
  • Confidence engaging with employers and adopting a business development approach
  • Experience of providing advice, guidance or coaching to support individuals
  • A proactive, organised and solution-focused approach
  • A genuine passion for supporting people into sustainable employment
