Employment Specialist – Redbridge, Employment Service

Right now, we are looking for an Employment Specialist to play a pivotal role in our Employment Service in Redbridge.


About the Role

Sounds great, what will I actually be doing?

As an Employment Specialist, you will support people experiencing mental health challenges to find and sustain meaningful employment using the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) approach. You will:

  • Work closely with clinical teams, employers, and community partners
  • Provide person-centred employment support
  • Build relationships with local employers
  • Help individuals achieve their career goals
  • Offer ongoing support to ensure long-term success in work

Responsibilities

  • Provide thorough employment support to individuals with lived experience of mental health challenges
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, employers, and external agencies
  • Manage a varied casellood responsibly, ensuring individuals are matched with suitable opportunities
  • Develop strong relationships with employers to encourage inclusive hiring practices
  • Monitor progress and maintain support networks to secure long-term employment success
  • Demonstrate resilience, problem-solving skills, and adaptability in challenging contexts
  • Contribute to organisational reporting and quality assurance standards

Requirements

Essential Skills & Experience

We invite applications from individuals who can demonstrate:

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Organisational and proactive approach to managing caseloads
  • Experience in employment support (or equivalent skills) preferred
  • Understanding of IPS methodologies (a welcome asset)
  • Passion for helping individuals with mental health challenges achieve positive employment outcomes
  • Commitment to delivering person-centred support

Desirable Additional Qualities

  • Prior experience working in mental health services
  • Experience in employment support roles or related fields
  • Resilience and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to build employer relationships proactively
  • Lived experience in the areas we support (valued but not compulsory)
