Employment Specialist (Connect to Work) – Folkestone / Hythe & Dover
Location: Folkestone
Salary: Up to £28,000 depending on experience
Vacancy Type: Permanent, Full Time (35 hours/week) (part-time or reduced hours may be considered)
About the Role
Do you enjoy helping people build confidence, overcome challenges, and move towards a better future? The Forward Trust is looking for compassionate, motivated Employment Specialists to join our Connect to Work team across Folkestone / Hythe and Dover.
In this impactful role, you’ll support individuals facing barriers to employment—such as mental health challenges, long-term health conditions, disabilities, and life circumstances—helping them find meaningful work, sustain their jobs, and progress towards greater independence.
EBFIS / Connect to Work training will be provided, along with ongoing support and development opportunities.

- Assisting with CV writing, job applications, and interview preparation
- Providing career coaching, confidence-building, and job-search strategies
- Delivering one-to-one and group support sessions
- Building relationships with local employers and identifying job opportunities
- Advocating for inclusive workplaces and reasonable accommodations
- Offering in-work support to ensure sustained employment
- Collaborating with community organisations, health services, and training providers to overcome barriers
Essential Requirements
Experience (Desirable but not essential – training provided):
- Employability/recruitment
- Health, wellbeing, or support services
- Adult learning or skills programmes
- Coaching, mentoring, or support work
Person-Centred Skills:
- Strong communication and relationship-building abilities
- Confidence working with diverse populations
- A positive, supportive, and person-focused approach
- A belief that everyone deserves access to employment opportunities
