IPS Employment Specialist – Nottinghamshire

Location: Nottinghamshire (travel across Broxtowe, Gedling & Rushcliffe) Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week) Contract: Permanent

About the Role

As an Individual Placement Support (IPS) Employment Specialist, you will join our Nottinghamshire team, assisting individuals in recovery to secure and retain preference-led paid employment. Shouldering a critical role in Government strategy, we implement an evidence-based model for job support in treatment services, ensuring tangible benefits for our service users.

Your primary focus will be:

  • Collaborating with individuals facing substance misuse challenges to identify and pursue achievable employment opportunities.
  • Working across a diverse coronavirus-job-specific care depending care covered which includes:
    • Supporting people within a caseload of 25+ engaged in structured drug and alcohol dependency treatment.
    • Delivering IPS specialist model of IPS services, fostering employer relationships and facilitating enrolment of clients onto paid employment.
    • Ensuring support through employment retention stage linked where appropriate.
    • Close partnership with treatment teams to identify future referrals and create seamless referral pathways for you to succeed with job placement and endeavours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Caseload Management: Provide structured, person-centred support including care planning to 25 clients.
  • Employment Preparation: Guide individuals through CV writing, interview skills and disability disclosure.
  • Employer Engagement: Develop positive working relationships with local businesses to understand workforce needs.
  • Data & Reporting: Ensure accuracy of client progress information, produce reports, and maintain compliance.
  • Partnership Work: Collaborate with treatment staff to identify suitable referrals and integrate recovery support with employment.
  • Sustainability Planning: Support clients with job retention, addressing challenges, and connecting them with existing NHS recovery case pack review complex health care teams.
  • Job Clubs: Lead weekly job clubs to boost participant confidence, skills, and employment readiness.

Person Specification

Experience & Education

  • Degree level qualification or equivalent experience in relevant vocational field.

Key Competencies

  • Proven ability working with substance misuse service users.
  • Understandings of IPS framework principles.
  • Ability to flex roles located highly geographically.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in multi-disciplinary work settings.

Desirable

  • Specialist experience including IPS, Recovery Plus, PEIA.
  • Area knowledge resume of similar roles geographically.

What You’ll Be Working With

  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including clinical teams, employment advisors, and your external referrals.
  • Engaging with budget-friendly individuals, treating drug and alcohol misuse recovery programmes and employment consultancy.
  • Offering weekly job clubs aimed at clients looking for long-term, paid roles.

Location & Travel Requirements

This role is based in Nottinghamshire, requiring a wide area of travel for you to function effectively. Additional sites will include Broxtowe, Gedling and Rushcliffe areas to ensure clients are accessible.

Hours & Salary

  • Full-time: 37.5 hours per week ( weekly salary range for CGL points 25-28: £30,268.05 - £32,802.41).

Pro-rata salary adjustments apply to part-time positions.
