Hardware Support Engineer (Emulation Systems) at Siemens EDA
About the Role
Siemens EDA, a global technology leader in Electronic Design Automation (EDA) software, develops tools enabling rapid and cost-effective electronic product development. As a Hardware Support Engineer (Emulation Systems), you’ll maintain and optimise emulation products and infrastructure across data centres, cloud, hybrid environments, and customer sites, blending hands-on technical work with forward-looking responsibilities in automation, observability, scalability, and reliability. You’ll partner closely with R&D, Customer teams, and Operations to ensure high availability, peak performance, and continued infrastructure growth.
Key Responsibilities
Core Technical & Operational Tasks
- Provide lifecycle hardware support for Siemens EDA emulation systems, including installation, maintenance, upgrades, and end-of-life disposal activities.
- Independently diagnose and resolve complex hardware issues, restoring system availability with minimal downtime and customer impact.
- Lead incident response, root cause analysis, and problem management for hardware issues in the Emulator/ProFPGA and Veloce product lines.
- Conduct onsite and remote hardware support at:
- Customer locations
- Siemens offices
- Home-based dispatch (as required)
Installation & Deployment Expertise
- Oversee full system installations, covering:
- Unboxing and cabling
- Hardware assembly
- Software loading
- Initial checkout testing
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to:
- Resolve technical issues
- Improve product reliability
- Drive operational excellence initiatives
Inventory & Data Management
- Handle material disposition for failed hardware and maintain accurate spare parts inventory tracking.
- Collect and report operational data for global monitoring, reliability analysis, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in electronic or software engineering.
- Proven experience in troubleshooting and repairing complex electronic hardware.
- Proficiency in Linux OS and Microsoft Windows environments.
- Knowledge of high-speed serial data technology and systems.
- Strong technical communication, analytical problem-solving, and team collaboration skills.
- Demonstrated experience handling electronics parts with proper grounding procedures and safety protocols.
Preferred
- Direct experience in emulation hardware support (highly desirable).
- Understanding of:
- Server and network technologies (fundamentals: DNS, DHCP, VPN, TCP/IP).
- Monitoring and automation tools (e.g., scripting, observability frameworks).
- Performance tuning and system observability in hybrid environments.
- Data centre operations experience and familiarity with enterprise security standards (e.g., ISO, NIST, SOC 2 compliance).
- Passion for automation, self-healing architecture, and continuous improvement.
- A valid driver’s license with flexibility to travel on short notice.
- Physical capability to move 50–70 pounds and work in lab/datacentre environments for extended periods.

Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range
- £44,200–£68,800, with eligibility for incentive compensation.
- Compensation is customised to your skills, experience, and training.
