Torbay Council is seeking enthusiastic and caring individuals to join our team as Behaviour 1-1 Enablers. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people with physical and/or learning disabilities, helping them to thrive at home, in the community, or at local Playschemes and Saturday Clubs.

About the Role: Work 1:1 or in small groups to support children and young people with additional needs. Enable participation in play, social, and community activities, building confidence and independence. Provide practical support, including personal care and assistance with outings. Help create safe, inclusive, and positive environments. Work closely with families and professionals to ensure the best outcomes for each child. What We’re Looking For: Experience or qualifications in Play or Care for children and young people are desirable, but not essential - full training is provided. A passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Reliability, flexibility, and a positive, team-focused attitude. Skills

Essential: Direct experience of working with children and young people with emotional related learning disabilities and behavioural conditions. Ability to take direction from professionals and family. Have a flexible approach to achieving the Outcomes for the child or young person. Ability to work with a range of professional staff and Parent/Carers. Ability to manage own time effectively to deliver the responsibilities of the role. This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.

Knowledge

Essential: Understanding of the appropriate physical and or personal. Care requirements for children and young people with complex emotional and behaviour needs. Understanding of Health and Safety Issues. Knowledge of Safeguarding procedures for children and young people.

Experience & Qualifications

Essential: Previous or current experience of working with children and young people with severe or complex learning, emotional or physical disabilities and their family and carers. Achieved or working towards a qualification in Youth Work, Child Education & Development and/or Play work.
