Whether you're a Band 5, Student Nurse or already qualified and looking to return to the profession, we have opportunities for you. We are recruiting for an additional full-time nurse to join our Endoscopy Unit at Ysbyty Gwynedd.
The Endoscopy Unit at Ysbyty Gwynedd has expanded to a 7-day service and requires additional nursing staff to support this change.
Main Duties and Expectations
About the Role
Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board operates 8 procedure rooms across its three sites, delivering a range of services including diagnostics, therapeutic, and surveillance procedures such as:
- Gastroscopy
- Flexible sigmoidoscopy
- COLONOSCOPY
- PEG insertion
- Bronchoscopy
- EBUS
- ERCP
- Double Balloon Enteroscopy (DBE)
The unit also hosts the Bowel Screening Wales Programme, providing a diverse range of specialisms to develop your skills and experience.

A key requirement is recent acute NHS experience, as we will train you in endoscopy services. This will be supported by our in-house endoscopy lead, with access to bespoke tailored courses to enhance your knowledge and expertise.

Qualifications
Essential
- Registered General Nurse
- Registered Operating Department Practitioner
Desirable
- Diploma or Degree level qualification or willingness to work towards achieving this.
Experience
Essential
- Substantial experience in working within a gastroenterology setting
- Evidence of contribution to practice development
Desirable
- Experience in Endoscopy nursing
- Evidence of any relevant Gastroenterology or Endoscopy courses
Skills & Competencies
Essential
- Good communication skills
- Ability to present factual information clearly
- Competency in maintaining accurate patient records
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team setting
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Evidence of contributing to practice development
Desirable
- Knowledge of professional and NHS-related issues
- Knowledge in endoscopy practices
- Basic IT skills
- Ability to speak Welsh
