An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 3 Endoscopy Support Worker in the Endoscopy Unit.

The Endoscopy Unit is a very busy department and the successful candidate will work within the decontamination unit processing endoscopes and ensuring all equipment is ready for the daily lists. They will also assist the Registered Nurse and Endoscopist during endoscopic procedures and in the recovery area.

  • Assist with the preparation and discharge of patients undergoing endoscopic procedures under the guidance of the Registered Nurse/Endoscopy Assistant Practitioner.
  • Preparation of the endoscopy room and recovery area.
  • Assist the Endoscopy Assistant Practitioner/Endoscopist in diagnostic procedures once trained/educated and competent, following standard procedures.
  • Assist the Registered Nurse/Endoscopist in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures once trained/educated and competent, following standard procedures.
  • Positioning of patients during endoscopic procedures.
  • Airway management during endoscopic procedures once trained/educated and competent, following standard procedures.
  • Monitoring and recording of patient observations during endoscopic procedures and alerting senior staff to any problems.
  • Preparation of endoscopic equipment prior to and during endoscopic procedures.
