Role Description

The Energy Consultant is a full-time, on-site role based in Newcastle Upon Tyne. This role is responsible for advising business customers on energy solutions, including gas and electricity contracts, to help reduce their costs and improve efficiency. Day-to-day tasks include:

  • Preparing quotes
  • Presenting tailored recommendations to clients

The Energy Consultant will manage a pipeline of prospects, conduct follow-up calls and meetings, and support customers through the switching process. The role also involves staying current on energy market trends, regulatory changes, and Procure Smart’s service offerings to provide accurate, up-to-date guidance.

Qualifications

  • Strong consulting skills, with the ability to understand client needs and provide clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Knowledge of energy management and practical experience analysing energy usage and efficiency opportunities.
  • Understanding of the energy industry and energy markets, including gas and electricity suppliers and tariffs.
  • Proven sales skills, with experience building relationships, managing pipelines, and achieving targets.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to explain complex information in simple terms.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, target-driven commercial environment and collaborating with internal teams.
  • Basic proficiency with CRM systems and office productivity tools (e.g., spreadsheets and presentation software).
  • Relevant experience in B2B energy, utilities, or cost reduction services; a background in commercial consulting is beneficial.
  • Education in business, energy management, or a related field is an advantage but not strictly required.
