Energy Control Coordinator – Field Support
Region: NCE (UK & Ireland) – Global Offshore
Join a renewables leader where your expertise is critically needed. As the Energy Control Coordinator (ECC), you’ll drive electrical safety compliance, conduct critical risk assessments, and shape operational excellence in wind turbine maintenance across the UK and Ireland.
About the Role
You’re our purpose-built safety specialist: the go-to expert for mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic system troubleshooting. Based in either Inverness or Thurso, GB, you’ll collaborate in Vestas’ Field Support team—dedicated to upholding the Vestas Electrical Safety Program across wind farms.

- Safeguard operations while refreshing site tooling for long-term resilience
- Bridge local field teams with global standards
Key Responsibilities
Safety & Compliance Core
- Serve as the Authorising Engineer (AE) under Vestas Wind Turbine Safety Rules (WTSR), issuing technical authorisations and enforcing operational controls
- Lead Energy Control Coordinator (ECC) activities, including:
- Overseeing safe isolation/restoration processes
- Managing switching schedules, permits, method statements, and risk assessments (in line with ENSR)
- Audit compliance across teams:
- Conduct SSOW audits, assessing turbine safety, WTSR adherence, and subcontractor standards
- Verify field teams and contractors followed Vestas’ documented safety protocols
Technical Leadership
- Develop and maintain technical documentation including:
- Authorised Person Work Permits (AWP)
- Risk Assessment & Permit (RAP)/ORP’s}}
- Methodical risk assessments and operation procedures
- Maintain a high-alert vigilance for:
- Electrical/mechanical hazards
- Stored energy hazards (pressure, thermal, chemical)
- Statutory adherence (UK Electrical at Work Directive 1989, HASAWA, LOLER, PUWER)

Problem-Solving & Innovation
- Champion safety excellence by:
- Identifying latent issues
- Training field teams on operational improvements
- Represent safety expertise in the global offshore team, collaborating across borders
Requirements
Experience
- Minimum 3 years’ electrotechnical/engineering focus in renewables or equivalent
- Onshore/offshore wind industry exposure with experience as:
- Authorising Engineer
- Authorised Technician (with UK/NI certifications)
- Proficiency with Part P/Part L equipment and the Vestas Safety Rules Framework
Competencies
- Electrical/High Voltage theory: Deep understanding of stimulus-response, isolation procedures, and arc hazard recognition
- Technical documentation proficiency: Ability to create and refine safety workflows
- HSE acumen: Meticulous attention to regulation – UK/Ireland statute (HASAWA, LOLER, PUWER, COSHH)
- Social collaboration skills:
- Fit-discipline curiosity
- High-time-notice organizational skills
Practicalities
- Full, valid driving licence (for company vehicle use)
- Fluent written and spoken English
