Energy Journalist
Job Description: We are seeking an experienced editor/journalist with an established track record of breaking news and insights across a range of energy and commodity sectors, from OPEC and the IEA, to supply / demand fundamentals and the major global energy trading companies. Your focus initially will be on markets West of Suez. You Will: Write and research: Originate and author breaking news and insights in the energy sector with a focus on energy trading, international energy policy and the intersection of geopolitics and commodities. Data Analysis: Source and work comfortably with a wide range of data sets and report-based information across energy and commodities. Visual storytelling: Record short-form reels in video format explaining key thematic energy issues and stories. Collaboration: Work closely with editors, writers, and price reporters to weave Dow Jones Energy price assessments and benchmarks into news reports. We strongly value teamwork, so the ability to collaborate easily with other newsroom members is essential. You Have: Experience: Demonstrable experience in journalism working in a newsroom. Portfolio: A strong portfolio of breaking energy news and insights, including exclusive interviews with newsmakers in the energy space. Technical Skills: Writing and editing Data analysis and the ability to break news through data Source development Strong understanding of physical energy, commodity markets and energy trading Multi-media storytelling skills Comfort working in NewsPress content management systems. Some data journalism skills and a capability to search and identify new data sets and trends. Soft Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with being highly organized and detail-oriented. Able to work with the head of news, a data-visualisation team and a bench of price reporters to collaborate on stories and visual content.
