About the Job

You will work on a major UK investor account managing a circa-150-property portfolio. Collaborating closely with:

  • The designated sustainability lead
  • A data analyst
  • Property, facility and asset management teams

This role, embedded in JLL’s UK PM (Property Management) Sustainable Operations team, focuses on:

  • Energy/water/waste/biodiversity-related tasks
  • Data management through platforms like Deepki
  • Quarterly reporting
  • Liaising with property, facility, and asset managers (direct tenant-facing contacts)

What This Job Involves

Core Responsibilities

  • Delivering energy and sustainability services across the client’s portfolio, working both as a team member and a "leading" authority (under the account sustainability lead’s direction).
  • Tackling large-scale building performance improvements and net zero carbon programmes, including:
    • Tracking activities and participating in conversations with asset, facility, and property managers
    • Identifying energy optimisation opportunities for facility managers
    • Liaising with asset managers to pinpoint net zero carbon interventions and EPC/MEES risk mitigation.
  • Collaborating in wider PM Sustainable Operations roles, such as:
    • Team & social activities
    • Task-groups to develop standardised tools and templates
    • Representing the team in industry bodies (e.g., UKGBC, BBP, Managing Agents Partnership).

Key Duties

  • Support development, implementation, and constant improvement of sustainability activities across the portfolio.
    • Conduct energy/water/waste mapping
    • Analyze EPC/MEES risk management
    • Gather supplier Scope 3 emissions data for all managed assets.
  • Build trust and rapport with property, facility, and asset managers, driving sustainability improvements.
  • Collaborate with suppliers (e.g., waste, biodiversity) to enhance holistic performance.
  • Ensure data accuracy in sustainability platforms (e.g., Scope 1-2 landlord data; Scope 3 tenant energy data).
  • Analyse variance, identify optimisation opportunities, and improve asset performance.
  • Drive automated data capture (e.g., metering, innovative suppliers) to reduce manual tasks.
  • Assist reporting and benchmarking using large datasets; high Excel proficiency is advantageous.
  • Track and communicate success stories to maintain high visibility and engagement.
  • Identify prop-tech innovations applicable to the portfolio and aid in stakeholder implementation.

  • University degree in environment, sustainability, science, engineering or related fields.
  • Relevant experience in delivering sustainability services to real estate/corporate clients.
  • Strong project and time-management skills.
  • Attention to detail, analytical capability, and skill to handle large datasets.
  • Excellent presentation and reporting skills.
  • Firm grasp of key sustainability issues in real estate/built environment, including:
    • Energy, decarbonisation
    • Circularity
    • Biodiversity
    • Water
    • Waste
  • *Proactive, collaborative growth mindset and drive for sustainable outcomes.

Desirable Bonus Skills:

  • Proficiency in sustainability data platforms (e.g. Deepki, Enverus, etc.). or high-level Excel skills.
  • Ability to benchmark buildings using sustainability data.
  • Knowledge of industry bodies, including:
    • UKGBC (UK Green Building Council)
    • BBP (Better Buildings Partnership)
    • CIBSE (Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers)
    • NABERS (National Australian Built Environment Rating System).
  • Understanding of green building certifications.
  • Foundational knowledge of building operations (e.g., building services, HVAC, heating systems).
  • Experience developing net zero carbon roadmaps.
