Energy & Sustainability Manager – Sustainable Operations Team
London, GBR

We’re seeking a passionate, proactive Energy & Sustainability Manager to deliver cutting-edge sustainable solutions for one of our largest UK investor portfolios (c. 150+ properties).
This role sits within our London-based PM (Property Management) Sustainable Operations team, integrating energy-efficiency, net-zero strategies, water/waste/biodiversity programmes, and data-driven reporting. You’ll support portfolio-wide sustainability initiatives, collaborate with stakeholders to unlock building performance improvements, and innovate via prop-tech partnerships and automation.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Portfolio Delivery
- Serve as an accelerator for client sustainability ambitions, aligning actions with net-zero and circular economy goals.
- Implement and refine energy/water/waste/biodiversity strategies across 150 assets, including EPC, MEES, and emissions data.
- Work closely with Sustainability Leads & Data Analysists to develop and iterate measurable outcomes.
Operational Excellence & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Build rapport with asset, property, and facility managers to embed sustainability culture and capitalise on improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate with suppliers/lenders to develop innovative partnerships for waste/reuse programmes, biodiversity, and energy technologies.
- Oversee data integrity in management platforms (e.g., Deepki), ensuring comprehensive Scope 1-3 data coverage.
- Benchmark sites, analyse performance trends, and proactively advise on Sustainability-as-a-Service (SaaS) models with prop-tech providers.

Technical Focus & Innovation
- Leading support for net-zero carbon programmes, including EPC/MEES risk mitigation and technical briefings for asset underpinning.
- Develop and refine automation workflows (e.g., energy modelling, waste recycling scripts).
- Identify gaps/cost savings opportunities across the portfolio (e.g., follow the sun, demand forecasting).
- Triage queries from regional PM teams to prioritise and address high-impact, iterative sustainability challenges.
Reporting & Visibility
- Monthly Prophet quarterly reporting, annual sustainability reviews, and client presentations to enhance project/dataset transparency and workflows.
- Champion de-risking through periodic rebounds breakdown, tracking KPIs, and third-party auditor reports.
- Promote success stories--highlighting real-impact cases transparently to drive engagement.
What You’ll Bring
Essential
- BA/MSc in environmental science, sustainability, engineering, or associated built environment disciplines.
- Proven experience in energy/water/waste/biodiversity/tenant engagement, preferably within real estate or corporate clients.
- Demonstratable project management track record and competence in large-scale dataset analysis (e.g., property portfolios, RHI documentation).
- Strategic mindset with excellent presentational and reporting skills tailored for busy stakeholders.
- Key awareness of UK/GBC Net Zero Framework, circularity, and performance lending guidelines (e.g., UKGBC, BBP, CIBSE).
- Passionate about closing the carbon gap; ability to preemptively query assumptions to drive progress.

Desirable (Nice-to-Have)
- Hands-on experience with sustainability data platforms (e.g., Speedata, PropTech).
- Confident Excel proficiency (pivot tables, VBA scripting, trend analysis).
- Exposure to decarbonisation roadmaps, asedative strategies, or green leasing templates.
- Familiarity with building services (e.g., district heating, sub-metrics) for targeted energy optimisations.
