About The Job
In this role, you will be working on a major UK investor account. The portfolio has circa 150 properties in the UK and has a designated sustainability lead within our team who you would be working with, alongside a data analyst.
Your role would be working on energy and sustainability related tasks on the account as a member of JLL’s UK PM (Property Management) Sustainable Operations team. Work includes working across a broad range of themes such as energy/water/waste/biodiversity.
You will act as an accelerator and collaborator across all areas of our agreed scope of work with the client. The role would also include support on quarterly reporting, working on data management platforms (e.g. Deepki) as well as regularly liaising with our property, facility and asset management staff who have direct contact with tenants.
What This Job Involves
- Working collaboratively in our PM Sustainable Operations team delivering against a broad range of energy and sustainability related services.
- Supporting all aspects of the account sustainability scopes, as well as ‘leading’ certain aspects under the direction of the account sustainability leads.
- Having an active role in large-scale building performance improvement and net zero carbon programmes – e.g. support on tracking activities underway, being involved in conversations with asset, facility and property managers.
- Being inquisitive across a large number of assets (e.g. being pro-active to highlight energy optimisation opportunities to our facility managers), as well as undertaking focused tasks on priority assets (e.g. liaising with asset managers identify strategic intervention points for net zero carbon works and EPC MEES risk mitigation).
- Engaging in wider activities in the PM Sustainable Operations group (e.g. team meetings, social activities, task-groups to develop standardised tools & templates, representing the team in industry groups such as the UKGBC, BBP or Managing Agent Partnership etc).

Key Responsibilities
- Support the development, implementation and continuous improvement of all sustainability activities across the client’s real estate portfolio.
- Energy/water meter mapping, waste analysis and EPC and MEES risk management across all tenanted units in the portfolio. Supplier scope 3 emissions data gathering for managed assets.
- Building rapport with property managers, facility managers and asset managers to regularly discuss sustainability related matters and drive forward improvements across sites.
- Working with suppliers (e.g. waste, biodiversity) to drive forward collaborative partnerships to improve holistic performance across sites.
- Supporting the team ensuring sustainability data management platforms are accurate, with a high level of data coverage and completeness (e.g. Scope 1-2 landlord data and Scope 3 tenant energy data).
- Supporting the team to analyse the data identifying variances and/or optimisation opportunities, seeking to improve the performance of all assets.
- Driving forward automation solutions where possible (e.g. automated metering, work with innovative suppliers) to capture data efficiently reducing the need for manual tasks.
- Analysing large datasets to support the sustainability reporting and benchmarking. Ability to use Excel with medium/high level of confidence very beneficial for this.
- Effectively tracking and communicating success stories to ensure a high level of awareness and engagement is achieved regarding the overall energy and sustainability program.
- Identifying opportunities for new prop-tech and innovations applicable to the portfolios, as well as liaising with stakeholders on the practicalities of implementation.

To apply you need to be/have:
- University Degree (environment, sustainability, science, engineering or related fields).
- Experience in delivering sustainability related services to real estate and corporate clients.
- Excellent project and time-management skills.
- Attention to detail, accuracy and excellence across all activities including analytical skills with ability to handle large datasets.
- Strong presentation and reporting skills.
- A firm understanding of the key sustainability issues within real estate/built environment including, but not limited to; energy, decarbonisation, circularity, biodiversity, water, waste.
- Pro-active “can do” attitude and collaborative growth mindset.
- Passionate about working towards a sustainable future.
Desirable:
- Good working knowledge of sustainability data management platforms and high proficiency in Excel.
- General ability to process sustainability data (e.g. energy, water, waste) to benchmark buildings and highlight where opportunities exist.
- Good knowledge of sustainability bodies in the industry (e.g. UKGBC, BBP, CIBSE, NABERS) and relevant guidelines/frameworks/emerging policies.
- Understanding of green building certifications.
- Basic understanding of ‘how buildings work’ (e.g. building services) to support having effective conversations around energy & carbon related matters.
- Experience in developing and delivering net zero carbon roadmaps/ trajectories.
