I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Dean, 15 years with Bristow and Sutor
“My average day involves visiting properties, speaking with customers or if they aren’t there, speaking with neighbors. Some visits are simple, we just take payments or make arrangements, help them complete a questionnaire and update the system…Job done. Others can be more challenging; we might need to take control of their goods and remove where necessary. I like that the job enables me to earn what I deserve”.
Claire, newly trained, one year with Bristow and Sutor
“I never imagined a career in enforcement but always wanted to work in public services. My typical day involves planning my work schedule, what properties I need to visit and by when. I like helping debtors find the best solution. Being an enforcement agent isn’t about scaring people or being a bully. It’s about encouraging people to understand how they can find the best solution. Sometimes that involves directing vulnerable customers to support services. That part of the job is really rewarding, knowing I can help prevent someone from having to go through further stresses”.
