Enforcement Investigation Officer – West Northamptonshire Council
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Enforcement Investigation Officer to join our team, playing a key role in the assessment and resolution of appeals relating to parking, bus lane, and moving traffic contraventions.
What You’ll Be Doing
In this role, you will:
- Investigate and respond to challenges, representations, and appeals against Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs).
- Ensure all responses are accurate and issued within statutory timeframes.
- Fully comply with relevant legislation and council policies.
- Represent the Council at Traffic Penalty Tribunal hearings (telephone, video, post, or in-person).
- Prepare and submit comprehensive, accurate evidence within strict deadlines.
- Make informed, real-time decisions when required by the Adjudicator, including:
- Agreeing to case cancellations.
- Accepting reduced payments where appropriate.
- Process permit applications in line with council policy.
- Support back-office functions by:
- Managing the permit mailbox.
- Conducting ad hoc compliance checks on applications and issued permits.
- Taking action in cases of permit or Blue Badge misuse.
