Engagement Assistant: Job Description

Location: Swindon (Office, community venues, and occasional home working)


About Arm2Arm Support Services

Arm2Arm Support Services is a CQC-rated Good domiciliary care provider supporting people across Swindon and the surrounding areas to remain independent in their own homes. We are passionate about providing compassionate care whilst building strong relationships within our local community.

Role: Engagement Assistant

Service: Domiciliary/Homecare

Reporting to: Marketing & Customer Service Lead

Hours: Zero Hours Contract


Main Purpose of the Role

To support the promotion of Arm2Arm Support Services through social media, community engagement, marketing projects, and resource development, helping raise awareness of our services within the local community.

No previous employment in care is necessary. We are looking for someone enthusiastic, creative, and willing to learn.


Key Responsibilities

Social Media & Marketing

  • Create a monthly social media content calendar.
  • Produce engaging Facebook and LinkedIn content.
  • Research relevant awareness campaigns and national health events.
  • Design simple graphics using Canva or similar software.
  • Create short videos and reels (where consent has been obtained).
  • Share client and staff reviews.
  • Develop regular features such as "Tip Tuesday".
  • Research local Facebook groups suitable for sharing content.
  • Suggest new ideas to increase followers and engagement.
  • Monitor social media performance and recommend improvements.

Build relationships with organizations across Swindon including:

Responsibilities include:

  • Researching organizations.
  • Creating and maintaining a contact database.
  • Making telephone calls and sending emails.
  • Arranging visits.
  • Attending community groups to promote Arm2Arm.
  • Delivering short talks or quizzes where appropriate.
  • Recording outcomes and follow-up actions.

Activity Resources

Develop engaging activity packs suitable for older adults including:

  • Quizzes
  • Picture quizzes
  • Word searches
  • Crosswords
  • Spot the Difference
  • Bingo
  • Reminiscence activities
  • Music quizzes
  • Local history quizzes
  • Seasonal activities

Information Leaflets

Create easy-to-read information leaflets covering topics such as:

  • Hydration
  • Heat safety
  • Winter wellbeing
  • Falls prevention
  • Fire safety
  • Scam awareness
  • Digital safety
  • Healthy eating
  • Medication reminders
  • Staying active
  • Loneliness
  • Home safety

Website Support

Review the company website and identify:

  • Spelling or grammar mistakes
  • Broken links
  • Outdated information
  • Missing photographs
  • Areas for improvement
  • Opportunities to add reviews and new content

Marketing Materials

Assist in creating:

  • Staff Welcome Packs
  • Client Welcome Packs
  • Leaflets
  • Posters
  • Community displays

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Friendly and confident communicator.
  • Excellent written English.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Creative and full of ideas.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office.
  • Comfortable using social media.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Professional and reliable.
  • Willing to travel locally where required.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable:

  • Experience using Canva.
  • Experience creating social media content.
  • Basic photography or video editing skills.
  • Experience volunteering or working with the public.

Qualifications

  • Going to university or college.
  • Studying Marketing, Media, Communications, Business, Digital Marketing, Graphic Design, Events, or Health & Social Care.
  • Looking to gain practical work experience.

No formal experience is required—we are more interested in enthusiasm, creativity, and a willingness to learn.
