About the Role
The Engagement Business Partner (EBP) position is an internal finance-focused role requiring comprehensive knowledge of systems, processes, and policies. You will act as Finance’s single point of contact, collaborating with client-serving engagement teams to support the full engagement lifecycle—from opportunity creation to final record archiving.
This role is not a technical accounting position.
The Opportunity
As a senior Engagement Business Partner, you will deliver strategic financial leadership, ensuring high-quality engagement delivery while driving engagement profitability and compliance. Your responsibilities include:
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the Finance single point of contact for Engagement Partners and Managers, offering guidance and overseeing all Opportunity Engagement Lifecycle (OEL) activities.
- Oversee the completion of OEL tasks by delegating to Centres of Excellence (CoEs) and monitoring progress to ensure timely delivery.
- Proactively manage financial and quality-related risks across your engagement portfolio, providing strategic advice to elevate compliance and revenue stability.
- Ensure adherence to service-line-specific policies and parameters.
- Support the annual external audit process.
Core Duties
- Portfolio Management: Manage a portfolio of client opportunities and engagements, acting as the Finance single point of contact for high-complexity portfolios.
- Team Development: Lead the professional development, coaching, and upskilling of other EBPs in the team.
- Resourcing Coordination: Proactively track joiners, leavers, and movers to ensure coverage of Partner portfolios during leave or absence.
Collaborative Activities
Ensure OEL compliance and portfolio excellence by:
- Applying service-line-specific OEL policies and guidelines across the lifecycle.
- Monitoring and advising on risk assessment and compliance processes.
- Offering insights into pricing models and engagement budgets.
- Assessing financial implications of engagement structures and budgets.
- Supporting and advancing Estimate-to-Complete (ETC) processes and related financial updates.
- Managing working capital activities within the portfolio.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
