Telephone Messages Support Volunteer - Voluntary (Unpaid) Role
About Diabetes UK
Diabetes UK is the leading organisation in the UK determined to fight for everyone with diabetes to live a long and healthy life and to make sure that type 1 diabetes is cured. Thanks to the generosity of our amazing supporters, we have funded ground-breaking research, improving millions of lives with diabetes. Our international headquarters is based in Kinswood House, London, but we have offices all over the UK and partner offices worldwide. Our financial services team supports our role in the charity, from banking to accounting and raising funds. Together, our colleagues help deliver impactful and memorable fundraising experiences for supporters every day, using their creativity, kindness and teamwork. Through their decade-long partnership with our diabetes research and membership team, members are helping Diabetes UK fund world-class research, free-life tools and vital campaigns which make a real difference for people with diabetes. Everyone has so much to offer, including those with experience working in diabetes services or special interest groups, whether freelance or internal to the business.
Our team comprises more than 600 people from across the world—all with one thing in common: a passion for making life better for people affected by diabetes. 60% work remotely, in offices all around the world as well as from home and most have a flexible and agile working approach. If this sounds like you, come see what kind of difference you can help Diabetes UK make!
The Opportunity
We are looking for three Telephone Messages Volunteer Ambassadors based in the Midlands/East of England region to help our supporters (members) in England log answers to a new travelling diabetes course called the ‘Outliving Diabetes programme’. The ‘Outliving Diabetes programme’ will travel through the UK over the next two years and explore, in detail, how living with diabetes can be improved. This is what our work at Diabetes UK is all about. It’s vital we hear from members about their experience of it and it allows us to evaluate the course, improve how we offer it afterwards and improve it subsequently.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
